Rev. Angela Baker

Rev. Angela Baker, born on January 25, 1968. She was raised in North Philadelphia. She is a graduate of William Penn High School. She is also a graduate of Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate Degree in Culture Science and Technology. Rev. Baker continues her path of learning at Citywide Interdenominational Christian Training Institute (CWICTI), whereas she obtained a diploma in Christian studies. She obtained a Bachelor (BSW), a Master’s (MSW) in Social Work from Temple University. She has obtained her Master of Divinity from Missio Theological Seminary in June 2022. She is currently in the Doctoral program at Missio Theological Seminary with a concentration on Pastoral Care Counseling. She is an also ordained Itinerant Elder of AME Church. She is a part of the first group of students in the Licensed Evangelist courses of the Ministerial Training Institute of Philadelphia Annual Conference of the AME Church.

Rev. Baker accepted Jesus Christ at an early age 7, always knowing she had an evangelical calling and gift. She joined Ward AME Church in 1995 under the servant leader, Terrance C. Hensford, Senior Pastor. She accepted the call to ministry with her initial sermon on May 19, 2013. Angela continues to dedicate herself to the Lord’s work. At Fall Convocation 2022 she received her first appointment under Bishop Julius H. McAllister to pastor here at Thornbury with a vision to advance the kingdom of God through ministry and prayer.

Rev. Baker has such a warm loving spirit and brings such dynamic energy and messaging in delivering God’s word to our congregation.

One of the many, Rev. Baker’s favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 2:9:

”As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”
